Unity in Israel

I was recently invited to represent Chosen People Ministries, along with another colleague, at a special dinner hosted by the Fellowship of Israel Related Ministries ( Firm ). This event, in many ways highlights the very best of the body of Messiah in Israel. So what is FIRM? The reason I've chosen to share about this event, is because of the significant mission of this "fellowship." It's a mission that I fully support and I think you should too! As you probably know, lots of people say that they support Israel. I have personally spoken with many people who give financially to ministers and ministries in Israel. FIRM exists to authenticate and verify that these ministries are the right match for the ministry partner. More than once, I have spoken with a pastor whose church supports a pro-Israel organization only to discover later that the organization wasn't even operated by believers. FIRM exists to help lovers of Israel connect with healthy organizations in

Children's ministry in congregation

Recently, Jason was asked to join the children's ministry team in our local congregation. Specifically, they asked if he would lead the team in the areas of theological and pedagogical oversight. All of this came about after Jason spoke with some of the leadership about the need to prioritize children's ministry. There is a difference between indoctrination and education and often times, the children's ministry in the local congregations become more of a baby sitting service than a real educational system. The leadership team agreed wholeheartedly with this approach and it wasn't a new idea for them, they simply lacked the manpower to take their program to the next level. The congregation is blessed with plenty of children and lots of potential teachers. In fact, there are almost too many people wanting to be involved!  The first order of business was to find good curriculum. Jason, went to a special conference and was able to collect a lot of information about pote

Greater Tel Aviv Messianic Center Update

I just want to give you all a brief update on the Tel Aviv Messianic Center. The renovations have taken longer than we had hoped and that is often the case in Israel. There were a number of challenges that we had to overcome, but the end is now in sight. The contractors started laying the flooring last week and by the end of the day today the floor should be finished. The Furniture that we ordered will arrive this week, just in time for our first use of the facility. Don't get me wrong, the facility isn't going to be completely done yet, but it will be done enough that we can use it for staff meetings, when the contractors go home. We are very excited because we are in the home stretch!  We are planning our first event for December 25th. We would love your prayers for this special children's focused holiday party. I'm getting very excited about this ministry center and all of the amazing things God is going to do there! Please keep praying for the ministry plann

The laborers are Few

Our family took a few hours to help feed the poor, by picking oranges. A very large non-profit in Israel was given an orchard and they asked for volunteers to help pick the fruit for the many soup kitchens and distribution centers for which they give food.  About forty people came and as a whole we probably picked the fruit clean from almost two dozen trees. But there were hundreds of trees!  Our efforts filled an entire truck, but it was just a drop in the bucket of the potential. It was good for our children to physically help others. It was also a great lesson in the parable of Yeshua,  "And he said to them, harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest" (Luke 10:2).  Sderot, Israel. We also had the wonderful opportunity as a ministry to host a ministry group from Minnesota. Its always worthwhile for our family when we can find ways to include the childre

Elementary School Update

It has been on our hearts to open a Messianic/Christian elementary school in the Tel Aviv area for some time. To achieve this goal, Jason was able to open a non-profit and establish a working board of directors. All of the steps involved were complicated and it took a long time.  But everything is in place. Recently, interest in the school has started to pick up among local Israelis. Of course dozens have asked us when we will open the school, but the level of interest now is much more than in the past. It seems like every time we run into someone with young kids, it's their first question. In the last week alone, Jason was probably asked this question a half a dozen times from parents in Tel Aviv alone. We are in the process of creating a professional promotional video for the school.  Our school in Tel Aviv is being modeled after an existing school in Jerusalem. As part of this video production, Jason took the cameraman to the school in Jerusalem. The cameraman was so amaz

Progress Continues at our Greater Tel Aviv Messianic Center

Finding the right look We have been putting in some long days making decisions and finding solutions in order to create a space that will be both inviting and practical. Some of our Tel Aviv team members are much more gifted in design and aesthetics then others of us. Two people have really been key in finding the right look and feel for our new facility. We want it to feel like a place where people can learn and grow both practically and spiritually. We also want it to be a place where people want to sit, talk and stay a while.  By God's grace, my family was able to purchase a seven passenger car about a year ago. So, it was my privilege to be the chauffeur for two of our other team members as they looked for the right materials. They really are of one mind.  It is fun to see how both of them zero in on the same item in a store with thousands of things to offer!  Finding the right style, colors and furnishings is supposed to be a long and difficult process, but
