Progress Continues on the Greater Tel Aviv Messianic Center

The LEAK under the stairs We have had an interesting challenge this week in the renovations.  I'll just start by saying, that since we are renting from a very good landlord, this problem is being taken care of by him. He responded immediately to our concerns by sending experts to investigate.  So here's what happened. When we rented this facility, we knew that there was historically a problem with water near the entrance. It was explained by multiple people that the water damage to the laminate flooring was due to rain water flowing under the door. We needed to be sure, so we asked our contractor to remove the entrance stairs and find the source of the water damage. This was no small task. To get to the source of the problem required removing the wooden stairs, then removing the stone tiles and several inches of ceramic glue. In the end he even had to remove cinder blocks to get down to the bare concrete. What he found was an ongoing leak.  It turns out, that a drain

Greater Tel Aviv Center Vision

Image
Jason has been sharing the vision of our ministry center with a few people lately. He spoke with some counselors, an archeologist and several others in the past week. Everyone is interested to see God move in this new center. Imagine for a minute how the Kingdom of God can spread through the kind of programs we will be offering. Imagine a course called, "The History in your Neighborhood: exploring the archeology in your area." We would invite believers and not yet believers. The class (or course) would be taught by a PhD in archeology, who has spent 21 years in archeology in Israel and been the lead archeologist of two major excavations in Israel, among many others. The course would be offered for FREE, including childcare! How many believers would sign up for this free course? I'm guessing quite a few would sign up out of shear interest in the subject. Together, these believers and not-yet-believers would sit in the same class, explore the same archeological sit

Imagine Jesus in the Midst of Tel Aviv

An update from Chosen People Ministries  The following article is an update on our Greater Tel Aviv Project produced for us by our headquarters in New York. It contains a video presentation of the project that was professionally developed in our New York office by one of our staff. I even have a few lines in the video! It was a lot of fun to spend a day traveling around Tel Aviv showing the videographer the interesting sites in Tel Aviv. I think he did a wonderful job capturing our city on film! I think he also did a fantastic job explaining the need and vision for this project! Please feel free and share this update and/or the video. Is this email not displaying correctly? Adventures in Israel

Adventures TOURING in Israel Safed . A city on a hill. Mt. 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden."  I should say, that as citizens, we really don't get out of the city very much and there is a lot of the country that we haven't seen! Although my wife was once part of a tour group to Israel, I never was! So my experiences are limited to a few day trips here and there. As you probably know, since we are a homeschooling family, we have a little more flexibility to explore the country than most public school families.  In order to utilize these opportunities, we purchased a one year National Parks pass for the whole family. National parks in Israel are often historical sites. Since we purchased the pass, we did have a few adventures, but recently we had a great excuse to have more adventures! With the birth of our fifth son, Gideon, Janice's mom came to help. She was with us for nearly a month and towards the end of her ti

Update on Greater Tel Aviv Messianic Center

Here's a brief update about our Greater Tel Aviv Messianic Center, for Wednesday, August 17th, 2016. Explaining the Vision. I'll just start by explaining the vision in the shortest possible terms. In Israel, believers make up about 0.25% of the population, according to most estimates. This makes Israel one of the most unreached societies in the world. Our GOAL with this facility is to create opportunities to reach people that we may not otherwise have a chance to meet. These created opportunities come in several forms, but the overarching principle is to provide a basic need that people want. For example, many single parents sorely need parenting advice related to controlling behavior with only one parent. We will offer these kinds of classes and provide childcare in the facility. This is just one example but there are dozens of programs we are working on right now. By providing services that are needed and by including both believers and not-yet believers in the c

Walls are going up

Image
Our Greater Tel Aviv Messianic Center is starting to take shape! The Renovations have started. The contractor has spent the last week, tearing down walls and now building some new ones. It may be hard to visualize now, but soon it's going to look amazing. We would really appreciate your prayers for all the details and for the finances to compete them! COFFEE!!!! It has been an interesting adventure searching through our storage in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv for various items that were in our previous facility.  I found of professional espresso machine. We decided to send it to the manufacturer to ensure that it is in good condition. Well, I'm glad we sent it in for repair. It turns out that it needs about $1000 worth of repairs... Please pray that the finances come in for this and that the work can be done before the opening of our facility.
