Progress Continues on the Greater Tel Aviv Messianic Center

The LEAK under the stairs

We have had an interesting challenge this week in the renovations.  I'll just start by saying, that since we are renting from a very good landlord, this problem is being taken care of by him. He responded immediately to our concerns by sending experts to investigate.  So here's what happened.

When we rented this facility, we knew that there was historically a problem with water near the entrance. It was explained by multiple people that the water damage to the laminate flooring was due to rain water flowing under the door. We needed to be sure, so we asked our contractor to remove the entrance stairs and find the source of the water damage. This was no small task. To get to the source of the problem required removing the wooden stairs, then removing the stone tiles and several inches of ceramic glue. In the end he even had to remove cinder blocks to get down to the bare concrete.

What he found was an ongoing leak.  It turns out, that a drainage pipe runs right under the entrance and is leaking into the floor in front on the door. This leak is inside the floor.

The problem is in the process of being fixed, but it certainly will postpone our remodel of the front entrance ramp and steps. We would appreciate your prayers for a speedy resolution.

The Design

We received our first draft of the design from our interior designer. This is far from the final product, but it's great to know that things are moving on that front! The process of creating a design like this is an exciting an interesting one. At this point, we are only working on the layout of the furniture for different functions. This will help us choose which furniture to purchase for the many activities we are planning. In these pictures this layout is for small groups meetings. But we are still working on the seating plan for a Messianic Congregation, for our seminars and others. We are pleased to share this tiny preview.

Timeline

We are now planning to complete the renovations by mid to late October. Of course many factors will affect this, and so at this point, we are leaning towards an official opening in November. This is a slight adjustment from our previous estimates. Hopefully, we won't find any more surprises!
