A busy week, full and fulfilling!

We just want to let you know about a few great activities this week.  By God's grace on Monday, we had a special banquet with music for Holocaust Survivors. It was sponsored by a ministry team from the USA who came to minister along side us. We wrote about this event already, so we won't go into more detail, we just want to point out how phenomenal it is to have a ministry team for a week! Following that event one of our ministry partners hosted a discipleship training event. This was developed to help believers learn how to encourage and minister to others. It is a leadership building series with a strong emphasis on teaching people how to share the Gospel in their workplace. On Wednesday, we held a special English Story Hour for Kids. A guest from overseas came and led the one hour program with a Bible Story and a really fun block painting craft. We also held our Bi-weekly Bible Study that evening. Most of the people who came are first generation believers, some new and s

Special Event for Holocaust Survivors

Image
This week we were blessed to host a special event for holocaust survivors in the Greater Tel Aviv Messianic Center - which we call HaMercaz (the Center).  About 40 survivors came. We have several staff members who work extensively with Holocaust survivors and they did a wonderful job organizing this event. There was about an hour of music and a full banquet meal. The event was sponsored by a missions team from the USA who wanted to bless Holocaust survivors in Israel.  The following day, they sponsored an identical event in the southern part of the country for another group of Holocaust survivors.  They also packed food packages for distribution to needy families. It is so refreshing and encouraging when groups come from abroad and choose to come serve along side us. Without their financial contributions we couldn't bless these holocaust survivors with a banquet, but with their contributions together with the relationships with have through our staff, enabled us to demonstrate Go

Quiet on the Southern Border

Image
At 2:30am this morning we awoke to the good news of a ceasefire. In the last 48 hours: 234 Israelis were injured, 4 killed and the terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip had fired 690 rockets into Israel.  Many people are wondering what happened. So, I'm gong to take just a few minutes and explain it in a little more detail, but I will try to be concise. On Friday, May 3rd, the Hamas arranged a protest along the Israeli - Gaza border called the March of Return. They have repeated this protest every Friday for one year. The stated goal, is not just a protest but an attempt to breach the border and return to the historic family homes that were left in 1948 ~ literally to March and Return to their historic villages.  There is a lot of history here.  To summarize the history.  In 1948, even before the Israel's declaration of Independence [5/20/1948], on November 29, 1947, the UN announced it's partition plan for the British Mandate Palestine creating two states for

Easter Sunrise Service at the Garden Tomb

Image
For the First Time we were invited to celebrate Easter with friends in Jerusalem. They have a tradition of going to the Garden Tomb for the Easter Sunrise service. This was an experience we will never forget. The service started at 05:30 AM, which means that we had to wake up at 3:30am in order to get in line! Shockingly, a cold spell hit the country, which is hilarious because we had just packed up most of our winter clothes and the boys were expecting to wear shorts and t-shirts! And it rained, but we LOVED IT! It was a very meaningful experience for everyone. We found the service itself was so well done, we will probably try to go again next year.

Passover and Purim Celebrations

Image
Passover 2019 at the Mercaz We had a slew of events since our last update. The most recent event was a Passover Seder that we led for the community. We used an online registration system, which worked beautifully. Most of the people registered within a few hours of publishing the event. We had a packed house! Sadly, we had to turn people away because we had not more seats available. The kids had a lot of fun singing the songs and playing with friends. My eldest, Yonatan found the Afikomen! He was thrilled because there was a lot of competition. What we found fascinating about this seder is that many of the people who came had celebrated Passover most of their lives and yet some had never experienced a Passover Seder that focused on Yeshua (Jesus) being the fulfillment of the Passover Lamb.  These are Jewish believers in Yeshua that are still learning about how Yeshua completes this holiday!  Non-believers came as well and heard the saving message too!
