Ministry Updates from Jason and Janice Rose

CAFE NIGHT By God's grace, we are moving forward with plans for a CAFE NIGHT . This kind of outreach is something that we started in 2005 and continued to do, for the most part, until 2013. Now that we have this amazing facility, we are excited to start up a CAFE NIGHT outreach again. We are working on putting a team together to help us make it great! When we started this outreach in 2005, Jason was still in his twenties (barely...) but now we will need to rely on a younger generation to draw people in and cast the vision. The fantastic things about this kind of an outreach is that Israel is still a Cafe culture. People here love to hang out in coffee shops and talk. By providing the right atmosphere we can reach a huge sector of society, just by being available. We need your prayers for all of the details to come together. We would really like to have musicians four times a month. This is a huge undertaking and requires a lot of networking and one-on-one conversation

As you may know, we have a Chosen People office in Hong Kong. One of our Hong Kong staff members arranged for a team from Hong Kong to come to our New Greater Tel Aviv Messianic Center and put on an exciting event to celebrate Chinese New Year's (the year of the Rooster!). We invited some locals which included families with kids. There were three FUN stations: Chinese Calligraphy, water painting and chop sticks. The kids had fun learning how to use chop sticks and the adults really enjoyed the Chinese New Year's snacks! The calligraphy was very cool too. One person, came, let's call him, Josh (which is definitely not his real name). Josh is either a new believer or a serious seeker. When I spoke to him about Isaiah 53, he mentioned that he hadn't read that book yet, but he wanted to read it. I read him the whole chapter and he seemed moved by the words. So please pray for Josh. It occurred to me, following some recent conversations, that many don't really know the extent of the ministry that Chosen People Ministries does in Israel.  So, I would like to provide you with a brief explanation. The ministry activities we do in Israel fall into one of three categories:  Humanitarian Aid, Discipleship and Outreach. Some activities fall into more than one category. For example, our camps. In addition, we do have ministry to Israeli's outside of Israel. Outreach actives take on many forms, from our Isaiah 53 Explained book distribution to person relationship building. Each staff member has a unique ministry field and works within that ministry field. For example, one staff member offers local archeological tours for new immigrants and on these trips, he is able to share stories from the Gospels with non-beleivers which create opportunities to share. I was recently invited to represent Chosen People Ministries, along with another colleague, at a special dinner hosted by the Fellowship of Israel Related Ministries ( Firm ). This event, in many ways highlights the very best of the body of Messiah in Israel. So what is FIRM? The reason I've chosen to share about this event, is because of the significant mission of this "fellowship." It's a mission that I fully support and I think you should too! As you probably know, lots of people say that they support Israel. I have personally spoken with many people who give financially to ministers and ministries in Israel. FIRM exists to authenticate and verify that these ministries are the right match for the ministry partner. More than once, I have spoken with a pastor whose church supports a pro-Israel organization only to discover later that the organization wasn't even operated by believers. Recently, Jason was asked to join the children's ministry team in our local congregation. Specifically, they asked if he would lead the team in the areas of theological and pedagogical oversight. All of this came about after Jason spoke with some of the leadership about the need to prioritize children's ministry. There is a difference between indoctrination and education and often times, the children's ministry in the local congregations become more of a baby sitting service than a real educational system. The leadership team agreed wholeheartedly with this approach and it wasn't a new idea for them, they simply lacked the manpower to take their program to the next level. The congregation is blessed with plenty of children and lots of potential teachers. In fact, there are almost too many people wanting to be involved!  The first order of business was to find good curriculum. Here are a few pictures which show the current state of the renovations of our new ministry center.

I just want to give you all a brief update on the Tel Aviv Messianic Center. The renovations have taken longer than we had hoped and that is often the case in Israel. There were a number of challenges that we had to overcome, but the end is now in sight. The contractors started laying the flooring last week and by the end of the day today the floor should be finished. The Furniture that we ordered will arrive this week, just in time for our first use of the facility. Don't get me wrong, the facility isn't going to be completely done yet, but it will be done enough that we can use it for staff meetings, when the contractors go home. We are very excited because we are in the home stretch!  We are planning our first event for December 25th. We would love your prayers for this special children's focused holiday party.
