Ministry Updates from Jason and Janice Rose

As part of the course that Jason is taking, he is seeing lots of exciting and interesting sites all over the country.  Here's a few samples. Amin . An ancient synagogue. This town was mentioned in the bible as a border (Book of Joshua). The church historian Esubius mentioned that there was an upper Christian town and a lower Jewish town. This synagogue is in the lower town and in the upper town, they found a church. Later empires conquered the area and built on top of these ruins which were only uncovered a few decades ago. Tel Arad.  This ancient city has a short lifespan. This synagogue was found in a fortress at the site and what's unique about it is that it resembles the temple in every regard. It was also intentionally buried, probably when one of the Kings of Judah started cracking down on people worshipping God outside of the temple in Jerusalem. Tel Sheva .  This was more of a fortress than a city. It was planned from the beginning and has a caseme...

We have held a number of events to promote and gauge interest in the Messianic School project.  We invited people from the area that are interested in opening a Messianic / Christian elementary school. We plan to continue with one event like this a month.  There is a praise song lesson, arts and crafts and of course food!  

Large Events We held one large Cafe Night event. Although we expected about 30 to 50 people, a lot more came.  We couldn't actually count them all, but for sure it was over 80 people.  There was a lot of opportunities to start Messiah-centered conversations at events like these, especially after the music stops. Smaller Events We held a number of smaller events. These more intimate events allow for a lot deeper conversations and opportunities to share. It's especially important to get to know people and build a level of trust. This comes naturally and we are very pleased that the Lord has been bringing us people who want to know more!

Hanukah In December we had a few really fun events.  We had parties for Hanukah and two birthdays in the same week! Janice made her own SUFGANIOT (traditional Hanukah Doughnuts) We had family celebrations all week! We also enjoyed community celebrations! Someone kept a close watch on his little brother! While others tried to eat doughnuts off a string (blindfolded) Birthday Celebrations On December 25, Eitan celebrated his 4th birthday. We celebrated with the traditional chocolate tart with strawberries!   On December 28th, Yonatan celebrated his 9th birthday. He requested a coconut pie with chocolate drizzle and chocolate covered crust. Chef Yonatan surprised us again with an amazing creation!

 In Late December we decided to hold a young adults dinner on a Friday night.  This was a partnership with a local congregation and we were able to provide a wonderful atmosphere for many young adults.  The evening included a lot of time for them to get to know one another, some traditional blessings and a short Bible Teaching.

We thought you might like to see some photos from our last café night event. We would like to ask for your prayer for the people came. We had about 70 people come, but we also had some opposition. Two anti-missionaries stood outside and tried to convince people not to come in.  This is the second time we saw them. They certainly wanted to come in and speak to people, we had a security guard who prevented them from entering. Instead they were simply outside and speaking with people came in or left. In any case, we would like you to pray that people that they did speak to would not be disheartened, they might remain open to the gospel, and that the opposition to Jesus would intrigue them and help them search for the truth. Please continue to pray for these Cafe Night events and all of our activities.  For the sake of privacy, we don't publish photos from every event.
