Ministry Updates from Jason and Janice Rose

We thought you might like to see some photos from our last café night event. We would like to ask for your prayer for the people came. We had about 70 people come, but we also had some opposition. Two anti-missionaries stood outside and tried to convince people not to come in.  This is the second time we saw them. They certainly wanted to come in and speak to people, we had a security guard who prevented them from entering. Instead they were simply outside and speaking with people came in or left. In any case, we would like you to pray that people that they did speak to would not be disheartened, they might remain open to the gospel, and that the opposition to Jesus would intrigue them and help them search for the truth. Please continue to pray for these Cafe Night events and all of our activities.  For the sake of privacy, we don't publish photos from every event. But I'd like you to know that our other activities are also ongoing and bearing fruit! H...

At our most recent Cafe Night we had a few amazing conversations with the people who came. The musician did a great job and we were really proud of him.  This was his first live performance!  He invited some close friends and family.  During the event, at least one guest was very interested in our of our outreach books. Another was open to have a conversation and Jason was able to share some insights into our evangelical faith. Lord willing the conversations will spark some earnest desire to learn more.  Would you like to hear a brief example of the kinds of things that Jason shared? SUKKOT Yom Kippur - Bicycles on the Freeway. We are now nearing the end of the Fall holidays. As a write this update, there is a sukkah (tabernacle in Biblical Hebrew) in my living room. Yes, you're right, they are normally outside, but we live in an apartment and there aren't a lot of options outside for us. So we set it up near a big open window. The boys have enjoyed sleeping in the sukkah at night. We have eaten in the sukkah also. It's a fun holiday filled with great memories, like searching the neighborhood for palm branches.  Eating in other people's sukkoth!  Before I was married, I was in college, and working for Ministry part time. I was in charge of a Ministry  vehicle. I hadn't used the vehicle in a very long time,  since I had my own vehicle. One day my boss asked me where the keys were for the vehicle. I hadn't  used  the vehicle in months. I had no idea where I put those keys. I looked and looked and looked.  I couldn't find them anywhere. At some point my boss gave me an ultimatum, he said, "I need those keys in 15 minutes." When upstairs to my apartment, and prayed and I said m, "God you have to show me where I  put those keys." As I was praying , I saw  picture of a winter coat in the pocket of the coat I saw the keys.  There was a closet that I never used,  and sure enough the coat with in that closet. I reached into the pocket and found the keys. God answered my prayers.

We have  had two wonderful coffee shop night events.  When we started the Gospel Cafe Thursday night events in 2005, we never dreamed of the success that such an event would generate. Our idea was fairly simple. People who may be interested in getting to know us as Messianic Jews might not be comfortable going to a congregational service. So I sat with a group of friends and we planned a coffee shop event, one night a week. We wanted a cool atmosphere that would create opportunities to discuss spiritual things. That's how the Gospel Cafe was born.  In 2005, about 35-50 people came every Thursday and the numbers grew to average about 120 on Thursday nights in 2010. After not having this event open since 2013, we reopened again this month (September 2017). It will take us some time to build a new crowd, but looking at the numbers there is one set of numbers that means the most to me. In 2012, FORTY FIVE people came to faith through this event. Today is the Day of Atonement I'm sitting down to write this on the morning before Yom Hakipurim (the Day of Atonement). There is a mixture of anticipation, excitement, reflection and contemplation. The typical Israeli greeting leading up to this Biblical Holy day is "GEMAR HATIMA TOVAH" meaning, "may your name to be sealed in the book." As believers in Messiah, this greeting is a difficult one to respond to. We have a promise from our Messiah that our names are ALREADY sealed in the Book of Life.  The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!”  And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.  Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.  Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”  (Luke 10:17-20). ...

Over the last couple of weeks, we had a few amazing events with lots of people coming. At one event, about 50 people came and among them were about 12 that don't yet know Messiah. The host of this event is a student that will be volunteering with us in the USA, while going to college. He organized a time of prayer, praise and worship. Everyone had a wonderful time and the Gospel was transmitted through love not, necessarily words. These kinds of events are really important for us right now, so that people, especially believers learn about our center and how they can minister with us.  At the events we held over the last two weeks, Jason had several conversations with believers about how they can be a part of what we are doing! This week we have a couple more exciting activities. We are organizing a meeting for volunteers and musicians who would like to perform at our "cafe night."
